PES 2015

Halfway through the year, EA made some key updates to its hugely popular game mode ‘Ultimate Team’ these involved a clampdown on illegal coin-selling by implementing a minimum and maximum price for players. PES jumped on the back of this, offered a cut price £15 deal for the game and worked with various youtubers that traditionally only really covered FIFA to encourage people to give PES a go.

From when I was first introduced to PES 1 back at School I fell in love. You could do things in that game that I’d never seen from years of FIFA, taking the ball round the goalkeeper for example was a real eye opener. From that day on I only purchased PES, I spent hours, days weeks working on editing the kits and badges, player faces. Using various guides on internet forums to improve the accuracy. I enjoyed it and I knew I couldn’t truly start a new master league without making those changes. This all changed sadly, when the PS3 came out, I still purchased PES the first year but FIFA had taken over and so the second year of the new generation consoles I purchased both FIFA and PES and for the next few years after that it was only FIFA.

Upon playing PES again with PES 2015 I rediscovered the love straight away, it felt different but in a good way. That fluidity of creating a chance and not knowing if you’d pull it off or not. FIFA suddenly felt scripted by comparison. I was disappointed the see a lack of a proper Edit mode, which is one of the reasons I’ve not really explored Master League that said, it allowed me to find out more about a new mode, ‘My Club’.

My Club is a PES’s equivalent of Ultimate Team but the key difference is that instead of purchasing packs and getting a handful of players you get one ball at a time that give you a player. There is no way of choosing the player you really want and buying it. To me this is great, FIFA Ultimate team had grown a little stagnant as after a few weeks of release every year everyone would have very similar teams and you’d keep coming across the same players every game.  I traded in FIFA soon after and I’ve been playing PES ever since, I’ve built a pretty impressive My Club team that includes:

………………………………………………….BUFFON……………………………………………………………….

ALVEZ ……………………..RAMOS………………………… COLOCCINI……………………………. ALBA

REUS ………………. MARTINEZ  ……………………..  KHEDIRA   ……………………..    RIBERY

……………………………………TEVEZ………………………………………………………………………………..

…………………………………………………….SAUREZ…………………………………………………………..

With PES2016 on the horizon, for the first time in years I’m truly excited as what that has to offer and with the fully functional edit mode, the skys the limit.
